Funeral services for Robert Weiland, 76, of Chamberlain, will be 2:00 pm Thursday, April 5, 2012 at the Hickey Funeral Chapel with burial at the Riverview Cemetery at Chamberlain, SD. Visitation will begin Wednesday at 3:00 pm with Scripture Service beginning at 7:00 pm at the Hickey Funeral Chapel. Robert Weiland was born September 4, 1935 to Theodore “Ted” and Gladys (Millan) Weiland at Chamberlain, SD. Bob attended school in Chamberlain and graduated from Chamberlain High School. Upon graduating, he worked in construction for several years in the Chamberlain area including Emme & Wristen and Rinehart Construction. Bob enlisted in the Army in 1954, serving in the Korean War, and was discharged in 1963. After his discharge, Bob worked at the Big Bend Dam in Fort Thompson, SD and later moved on working at several dams as a cement finisher, making his home in Colorado. Upon retiring, he moved back to Chamberlain to be near his family and remained there until the time of his death. Bob passed away on April 1, 2012 at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Gratefully sharing his life are his five siblings, Joan Myers of Pukwana, Barbara Lane of Sioux Falls, Arlis Schrieber of Rapid City, Myrna Arnburg of Coleridge, NE, James Weiland of Wichita, KS, as well as many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Theodore and Gladys Weiland, and two brothers-in-law Buddy Myers and Vince Arnburg.
